TBAP Cambridge AP Academy

The Academy supports up to 38 secondary learners who have experienced difficulties with their learning and behaviour in mainstream school.The academy takes referrals from a wide variety of Secondary school across Cambridge and the surrounding villages, predominantly focusing on Yrs 9 – 11. Learners are taught in small, well supported groups and follow a broad curriculum of English, Maths, Science, ICT, PE, Art, Food Technology, Media and a range of college courses.

Learners have extra support for literacy and numeracy delivered by a team of learning Support Professionals. Learners also benefit from a weekly enrichment programme which allows them to explore healthy lifestyles and to experience outdoor pursuits and encourages team building. We work closely with families and outside agencies to give learners the skills and resilience they need to be safe and to raise their expectations of themselves as successful citizens.

KS3 learners also benefit from extracurricular activities which are very much encouraged with clubs running from Monday – Wednesday. In their visit Challenge Partners (June 2016) cited ‘positive and purposeful leadership and that the school works hard to develop and secure a range of services needed by learners and their families’ Staff, learners and parents are able to confidently commit to the school improvement agenda.

Executive Headteacher, TBAP East. Previous experience as Head of AP provision in Haringey and Herefordshire, SENCO in both primary and secondary mainstream schools, TAMHS project manager and Behaviour advisor KS1-4

Head of School

Julie joined the TBAP family in May 2016 as Head of School, having previously led two very successful Headships in London and Milton Keynes. Julie has previously held SLT positions in mainstream schools and co-ordinated inclusion across Buckinghamshire.

Vicky Priestley

Director of Learning

Joined the TBAP family in 2015 as Director of Learning. Previously worked in several large mainstream schools in Leicester City and Milton in senior leadership roles, with whole school responsibility for Teaching and learning and Curriculum. Worked as a Forensic Scientist where she found her love of teaching and obtained a Chemistry degree.

Kerry Grubb-Moore

Director of Access and Inclusion

Kerry joined the TBAP family in January 2016 as Director of Access and Inclusion, having previously spent 10 Years working at a Behaviour, Social, Emotional and Mental Health school in Stevenage, the last four of which she was the Deputy Head. In May 2016 she became Director of Access and inclusion of Cambridge AP Academy.

Carlan Edgar

Student Services Manager

Carlan Edgar joined the TBAP family in September 2014 at Bridge AP Academy (BAPA), after ten plus year in a mainstream educational setting doing various roles such as a Learning Mentor & Pastoral Support Coordinator. In January 2016 he became the Student Services Manager TBAP Cambridge AP Academy.
